Santana ready to shine on Broadway Boxing

The Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club will host rising Junior Welterweight boxer Edgar Santana (18-2, 12 KO's) in an appearance at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium on tonight (Friday, September 8) as the Bears host Caribbean Night.  Gates open at 5:35 pm and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.

Santana, who was born in Manati, Puerto Rico, will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sign autographs on the concourse.  The Spanish Harlem, NY native will also perform special “workouts” to entertain the fans during the game.  Fans who call the Bears box office and mention Edgar Santana will receive a 2-for-1 ticket deal.

In addition to Santana, fans will have the opportunity to win a free trip for two to a Caribbean destination courtesy of Smart Travel Anywhere, and the first 1,500 fans will receive a FREE Piggy Bank presented by Washington Mutual.  All fans will also enjoy a post-game fireworks spectacular presented by Garden State Fireworks.

“We are excited to welcome Edgar Santana to Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium,” said Bears General Manager John Brandt.  “His presence will add even more entertainment to the great evening the Bears have planned.”

Santana will be fighting in a double main event, along with Brooklyn’s undefeated Dmitriy “Star of David” Salita (25-0-1, 15 KO’s), on Wednesday night, September 20th in the Hammerstein Ballroom at Manhattan Center in New York City on the next edition of Broadway Boxing Presented by StubHub.

Now fighting out of Spanish Harlem, Santana has become an exciting fixture on the New York circuit in the past two years. “El Chamaco” has reeled off nine straight Broadway Boxing victories, all in impressive fashion, en route to 13 consecutive wins overall. Santana will take on Vladimir Khodokovsky (14-9-2, 3 KO’s) of the Ukraine in the co-main event.

Tickets are priced at $175, $125, $75, $55 and $35, and are available by calling DiBella Entertainment at 212-947-2577.
