Salcido looking to stay active!

Press Release: Unbeaten junior lightweight Dominic Salcido will look for his  second win in as many months, as he headlines the April 24, 2006 "Path to Glory" card at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California. The event will be promoted by Thompson Boxing Promotions. Salcido, 8-0 with 5 KOs, made a successful return to the ring last month after a layoff of almost a year, stopping Odi Rivera in four rounds. He'll face an opponent to be named in a six round bout. Salcido now works with trainer Joel Diaz, older brother of Antonio and Julio Diaz. Five other bouts round out the card, including separate contests featuring 6-0-1 flyweight Manuel Roman and former amateur standout Sytel Wilbarn. Roman, handled by veteran manager Frank Espinoza, outboxed the then 7-0 Tomas Blanquet en route to a split decision win on February 17th. Wilbarn, fighting professionally as a featherweight, was the runner up at 119lbs at the 2005 US Amateur Championships in Colorado. He also boasts a National PAL title to his credit, capturing that honor in 2004. Tickets can be purchased by calling (714)935-0900 or at www.thompsonboxing.com.
