Saddam Rises To Title

Saddam Kiatyongyuth, who held a regional title at 130 pounds, has successfully moved up to lightweight and defeated and defeated Renato Inal in Puthamonthol, Thailand on December 24.   With the win, Saddam captures the WBC International title.  Inal, a former challenger for the Philippines junior lightweight championship, was dropped in round three by a huge combination of punches from Saddam and was sent off in round four by a big right hook to the jaw. The referee counted him out in 1:24 of the fourth round. On the undercards, Cholathan Or Wiriyaphinyo aka Cholathan Or Ukrit retained his regional featherweight title by fifth-round knockout over Nathan Barcelona of the Philippines. The Thai, who defeated Philippino Rolando Gerongco earlier this year, dropped Barcelona first in round four and two more times in next round before the referee counted to ten. Also welterweight, Pharkpoom Changphonark stopped Loli Mucandi in six.
