Ryota Murata reverses loss to Rob Brant

Ryota Murata TKO2 Rob Brant ... In Japan, 2012 Olympic gold medal winner Ryota Murata avenged the only loss of his pro career with a second-round technical knockout win over Rob Brant of the United States. Brant started off with the same style that worked well for him in their first meeting-- moving well and jabbing at a furious pace. But in round two, Murata began cutting off the ring effectively and landing hard shots. Eventually, Brant went down. He got up quickly but continued absorbing hard punches until the referee stopped the fight The stoppage may have been a tad quick, but what was even more surprising was Brant's complete failure to tie up Murata in order to slow the punch output. Brant made no effort at all to hold on, something he surely must work on when he goes back to the drawing board. The 33-year-old Murata improved to 15-2, while Brant, age 28, fell to 25-2. With the win, Murata regained the WBA regular middleweight title he lost to Brant in October. That loss took place in the United States, so both men have now prevailed on home soil.
