Ryan stops Harper after just three rounds

Sandy Ryan TKO3 Terri Harper ... Sandy Ryan retained her WBO welterweight championship in Sheffield, England when Terri Harper was pulled out of the fight by her corner following the third round. "I know Terri Harper and I knew I had to take it to her early," Ryan said as quoted by the DAZN website. "I had to be more smart in my work, but I knew I had to take it to her and stick to the game plan."

Harper, who remains the WBA junior middleweight champion tweeted: “Sometimes the journey is better than the destination. The biggest thank you to Sandy Ryan, [promoter] Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing for the opportunity. I had the best camp and preparation for this fight, [there was] nothing more I could’ve done. Sometimes you just get beat by the better person. A big thank you to all my team and [trainer] Stefy Bull for having my health as priority. Thank you to my sponsors and everyone who came out to support last night, I'm gutted to not get the win. Going to switch off and spend my time with loved ones before getting back in the gym to rebuild. I’m home and safe and that’s all that matters. In the end I only took
Ryan for a paddle [and not into] deep waters. Congrats, champ."
