Ryan Garcia responds to WBC order: "Bring it on Luke Campbell"

According to promoter Eddie Hearn, the WBC has ordered a very interesting lightweight bout: Ryan Garcia (pictured) vs. Luke Campbell. [Note: as of Wednesday night, the WBC website was silent about this]. UPDATE: The WBC ordered Garcia-Campbell for the "interim 135-pound world title," a bogus title if ever there was one... the WBC already has a secondary paper champion in Devin Haney, with the WBC recognizing Vasiliy Lomachenko as "franchise champion." Lomachenko is set to fight IBF title holder Teofimo Lopez]. In confirming the news, Hearn, as Campbell's promoter, tweeted, "With [Javier Fortuna pulling out of the Luke Campbell fight, we have just been notified that the WBC have ordered Campbell v. Ryan Garcia. Great fight!"

The British Campbell is 20-3 but showed well in his last fight, a loss to Lomachenko.

Since Garcia is a social media star and holds no world title, there is really nothing forcing him to honor the WBC's order, but the young Californian did signal he is open to the bout. Garcia tweeted, "I’m finally getting to fight a southpaw my favorite fighters to fight! Bring it on Luke Campbell."

The stacked lightweight division can be summed up as follows: Lomachenko holds the WBA, WBC and WBO championships. Lopez holds the IBF championship and will likely unify with Lomachenko in the fall. Fortuna will fight former WBA title holder Jorge Linares for a fourth bogus WBC belt, the "diamond championship." Gervonta "Tank" Davis holds a WBA regular title, and Haney holds a WBC title, doing a lot of talking but has yet to beat a true contender.
