Russel to Headline Italian American Sports Hall of Fame Night

In association with the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame, (Massachusetts Chapter), Cappiello Promotions bring professional boxing back to Club Lido in Revere, MA on October 1st. The card is dedicated to Italian heritage month and will be headlined by a competitive cruiserweight battle between Canadien champion Anthony Russel and battle tested veteran John Rainwater.

Russel, 6-0-1 1ko, will be facing his toughest test as a pro when he steps up against John Rainwater, 9-10, 3 ko's. The eight round tussle is the main event of the show and will be televised via tape delay on Comcast Cable and CN8.

The undercard will feature former four time Junior National and two time Junior International amateur champion "Nasty" Nick Morganelli, 2-0, 1 ko, of Weymouth, MA. Morganelli, who is one of the most highly touted New England prospects in years, garnered much praise from his promoter Richie Cappiello. "We are excited to bring Nick Morganelli to Revere and showcase him for the large Italian American contingent in that area," said Cappiello.

Cappiello also went on to add that Tyrone Smith will be making his much anticipated pro debut. "Tyrone  was supposed to fight on our June 25th show but he sustained an injury and was unable to go." Smith is a Boston police officer and is very involved with the community in Greater Boston. As an an amateur he lost a close decision to light heavyweight champion of the world Antonio Tarver.

In another anticipated pro debut, "The Cape Verdean Assasin," Jacinto Rosario from Pawtucket, RI will be featured. Former Irish National amateur champion James Clancy 3-0, 1 ko, will battle crowd pleaser Harold Rodrigues, 4-8, 1ko, in what could very well be the night's most entertaining bout.
