John Ruiz held an open workout today in a Berlin gyn named after the great Max Schmeling. Ruiz is in Germany to defend his WBA heavyweight title against the 7-foot tall Nicolay Valuev this weekend. "I do not fear Valuev's size," Ruiz told the assembled press, "and I will leave Germany as world champion."  In order to prepare for the giant Valuev, Ruiz has been sparring with 6'6" Jameel McCline. Laila Ali, who is also scheduled to appear on the card, joined Ruiz at the open workout. source: Daniel Hiller
