Rubillar to fight on Sunday

Press Release: World-rated Juanitor Rubillar will take on veteran Acasio Simbajon on Gabriel "Bebot" Elorde Jr.'s card at the San Dionisio Sports Center in Paranaque City in The Philippines on Sunday. Scheduled for ten rounds at an unusual 110-pound limit, Rubillar (35-9-7, 14 KOs) is ultimately aiming for a shot against WBC light flyweight champion Brian Viloria this year. "I am taking this fight seriously because he (Simbajon) is not only a recognition-hungry veteran boxer, he also wants to get even with me," said Rubillar, referring to a unanimous decision win over 10 rounds he gained in a rematch against Simbajon on April 29. Their first bout on July 21 of last year ruled as technical draw in round three after Simbajon suffered a nasty cut from accidental headbutt.

The WBC No. 1 contender, Rubillar, 28, is looking forward to get a shot in the winner between reigning WBC light flyeight king Brian Viloria and Mexico's Jose Antonio Aguirre on February 18 at Aladdin Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas.

But the 33-year old Simbajon is oozing with confidence. "I can contain his punches. I know I will win," said Simbajon. A women's boxing slated for four round at super-flyweight between Babay "Red" Teckok of Maguindanao and Janima "Green" Karim of Manila will serve as special attraction while eight more bouts to complete the card that will be covered on local television with Rey Danseco as commentator at ringside.
