Rocchigiani attorney passes away

New York attorney Peter Schlam passed away earlier this week. Although his name is unknown by virtually the entire boxing community, Schlam's efforts rocked the boxing establishment in 2002 when, on behalf of his client Graciano Rocchigiani, Schlam obtained a $30 million dollar award against the WBC. Schlam convinced a New York jury that the WBC stole Rocchigiani's world title in order to give it back to Roy Jones, who previously vacated.  The WBC claimed that Rocchigiani was never a world champion, arguing that its announcements to the contrary were just typographical errors.  Schlam was 61 years old and is survived by his sister, a nephew and a niece, to whom Boxingtalk sends its condolences.  Â
