Rigondeaux stops Ceja in eighth, featuring another bad night from Russell Mora

Guillermo Rigondeaux TKO8 Julio Ceja: It was far from easy and as a result far more exciting than any of us could have hoped for. Instead of using his superior footwork and overall boxing ability, Cuba's Guillermo Rigondeaux chose to make it a phone booth fight with Mexico's Julio Ceja. Both combatants were head-to-head and chest-to-chest for the majority of the evening (referee Russell Mora did everything he could to insert himself into the fight, calling multiple low blows that were clearly on belt lines). Rigondeaux (19-1, 13 KOs), was visibly hurt in the closing moments of the seventh round, but easily hung on to finish the frame. Both fighters were deducted a point for low blows in round eight, the last round of the fight. Moments later Rigondeaux landed a perfectly placed looping left hand that sent Ceja (32-4) crashing to the canvas.  He beat the count but Mora topped of his lousy performance with a premature stoppage. Official time of stoppage was 2:59. Source: Fox
