Light-heavyweight Rico Hoye is reportedly off the big Sheffield, England World Championship card tonight. Apparently, former IBF title contender Hoye is having a contract dispute with his manager, and will therefore not be appearing on the Fight Academy-promoted show. Hoye was looking to get back into the win column after being stopped last time out against Clinton Woods, who tops the bill tonight against Julio Gonzalez.
Ricky Hatton’s younger brother Matthew is now the main support, taking on Belarussian Dmitry Yanushevich over eight rounds in a bid to advance himself towards some kind of title shot. The younger Hatton is more controlled and technical than his world champion older brother, and should easily outpoint his Eastern European opponent to set up a possible British title clash in the future.
