Ricky Hatton has Pact with Family to Retire Next Year

Hatton’s Trainer and Mother Speak on Ricky’s Potential Retirement

While Ricky Hatton is just four days away from the biggest fight in his career, a showdown with P4P #1, undefeated and undisputed welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., Hatton’s mother and trainer both talked to British reporters about Hatton’s potential retirement.  Carol Hatton explained "Two or three more fights (he's got left), because, after 30, your reflexes slow down. You've got more chance of getting hurt. He doesn't need the money now."  Trainer Billy Graham went on to say "I've always told him I'd let him know when I think it's time for him to stop, and I will. I hope he'll listen to my advice - and I think he will."  Graham continued, "The way Ricky fights, he'd get badly cut up and knocked out. I don't want to see that."  Whether Ricky Hatton will keep his promise on retiring from boxing remains to be seen but just days before his mega bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Team Hatton has been discussing anything but Mayweather.  With Hatton’s lawyer talking about a potential showdown with Oscar De La Hoya, and Hatton’s trainer talking about retirement, one would hope that Ricky himself has his eyes squarely on Floyd because Mayweather will require the utmost attention come Saturday night.  Source: UK Telegraph  Â
