Ricardo Castillo over Edel Ruiz by DQ

In Phoenix, Ricardo Castillo won by disqualification when Edel Ruiz continued to hold and throw low blows.  Castillo put Ruiz down with a left hook in the second round of their super bantamweight bout, and Ruiz barely beat the count.  The end came in the eighth round when referee Bobby Ferrara gave numerous warnings to Ruiz for holding and repeated low blows and then stopped the fight at 1:55 of the round.  With the win Castillo holds on to his Mexican championship and moves to 21-2 with 13 KOs. Ruiz falls to 27-14-3 with 15 KOs.

On the undercard of Telefutura's Solo Boxeo boradcast, super featherweight Fernando Trejo stopped Martin Burmudez in the fifth round when Trejo landed a soft looking body shot and the referee counted Burmudez out at 1:55... In super bantamweight action, Rafael Valenzuela defeated Leshaun Blair by four-round unanimous decision.  Valenzuela dropped Balri with a body shot in round two and all three judges scored it 40-35 for Valenzuela.
