Reyes KOs Burton, Kaddour wins war

By Wyatt Johnston

At the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California lightweight Rolando Reyes stopped Courtney Burton in the eighth round.  The end came when Reyes landed a series of hard blows that put Burton down and forced referee Jack Reiss to stop the fight at 2:55 of the round.  With the win Reyes claims a vacant regional lightweight title and moves to 25-3-2, with 16 KOs. He will enter the Boxingtalk ratings shortly. Burton falls to 21-4, 11 KOs and after being stopped viciously in three of his last four fights by Julio Diaz, Ebo Elder, and now Rolando Reyes, perhaps Burton should think about doing something else with his life

On the undercard junior middleweight Ahmed "Baby Face" Kaddour, formerly of the boxing reality show "The Contender", earned a very hard-fought unanimous decision over Maxell Taylor over eight rounds.  Kaddour controlled most of the fight, but Taylor landed very solid punches on Kaddour in rounds four and seven, with Kaddour being badly rocked at least once.  Other than that, Kaddour landed terrific body shots and kept the pressure on Taylor with his relentless body attack.  Kaddour isnt the most skilled guy in the world but he definitely throws all of his punches with everything he has.  Official scores read 79-73, 78-74, 80-72 all for Kaddour.
