Eddie Sanchez W10 Carlos Bojorquez... Eddie Sanchez bounced back from his February defeat to Verno Phllips to outpoin Carlos “Elegante” Bojorquez over ten rounds Friday night at the Pechanga Casino in Temecula, California. Official scores for the junior middleweight bout were 99-91, 97-93, and 96-94. The lanky Sanchez used his height and reach advantages effectively for much of the bout, keeping Bojorquez at bay with a pawing left jab before firing quick power shots. Sanchez also banged the body well when he went inside. Bojorquez pressed forward, looking to catch Sanchez with looping home-run rights or left hooks, but the quicker Sanchez was able to elude most of his assault. “Elegante” was able to connect with Sanchez against the ropes at times, but Sanchez was never in any serious trouble. Sanchez is now 16-6-1 with 9 KOs, while Bojorquez’s ledger slips to 25-10-5 with 22 KOs. Sanchez hopes to parlay the win into a shot at a top ten contender, while Bojorquez may have to ask himself the tough questions. At 34, with losses in three of his last four bouts, it might be time to scrap the dreams of another title shot and big paydays.

Kalisha West W4 Elizabeth Cervantes... bantamweight Kalisha West upped her record to 6-0 with a four-round unanimous decision win over tough Elizabeth Cervantes. The 19-year-old West put on an impressive body punching display, digging left hooks and rights to Cervantes’ ribcage throughout. A right upstairs appeared to stun Cervantes in the third, as the two ladies swapped punches near the ropes while the crowd cheered its approval. West is still looking for her first win by stoppage. Cervantes is now 1-7.
