The Bannan Fitness Club in Coatbridge, Scotland announced the passing of its beloved founder, Rab Bannan. "It’s with great sadness I have to announce that Rab passed.

He was a massive figure in the community and did so much for the young boys and girls of our community. Please say a prayer for the family at such a sad time." Bannan was the original trainer for the young Ricky Burns, who went on to become a three-division world title holder. But Bannan was best known for his tireless work with Scottish youth, offering them countless hours of training. A grieving Burns arranged with Matchroom's Eddie Hearn to toll a ten count for Bannan at its show on Saturday.

 

Another Scottish boxer, former champion Scott Harrison tweeted, "Sad to hear of the passing of Rab Bannan Scotland and Boxing has lost a true legend of the sport !! Thoughts and prayers are with Rabs Family at this time !! RIP Rab God Bless"
