Report: DAZN lost $2.33 Billion in 2021

The respected SportBusiness publication is reporting that DAZN Group sustained a loss of $2.33 BILLION in 2021, putting the streaming service in a $5 billion hole over the last three reported financial years. According to the story, roughly one billion of the loss was a financial transaction that saw a chunk of DAZN's outstanding loans converted into an ownership interest in favor of a related company named Access Industry. The remaining $1.3 billion was an operating loss for the year 2021. SportsBusiness quoted DAZN CEO Shay Segev as saying, "It’s clearly not great to lose $1.3bn. But on the other hand, it’s a journey. This is probably one of the necessary milestones on this journey... there is already an established infrastructure that will allow the business to go to its next phase. This money has gone toward a good purpose: to build the platform we currently have.”
