Reggie Johnson returns to KO Fred Moore

Reggie Johnson KO9 Fred Moore... Happy 39th birthday, Reggie Johnson. The two-division world champion commenced another ring campaign this weekend with a ninth-round knockout of Freddie "Fabulous" Moore.  Johnson had not fought since losing a split decision to current world light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver in January 2002. Moore, a 6-3 southpaw, was not an easy comeback opponent. He was rated #30 in the Boxingtalk ratings coming in, based on a strong performance in a debatable loss to George Khalid Jones.   "I didn't want to play with this thing," Johnson told the Houston Chronicle about his decision to fight someone tough in his first fight back. "If I was going to do it, I was going to fight somebody." It was bascially an even fight until Moore walked into an uppercut that knocked him backward onto the canvas for much more than a ten count. Back in 1991, Johnson lost a split decision to James Toney in his first world title bid. He persevered, and when Mike McCallum was stripped by the WBA for unifying against Toney, Johnson won the vacant belt. In 1998, he added a light heavyweight title to his trophy case, beating William Guthrie and holding onto the title long enough to cash out against Roy Jones. source: Houston Chronicle
