On Tuesday at the World Amateur Championships in China, the United States won all three of its bouts. 2004 Olympic holdover Rau’shee Warren of Cincinnati dominated Ukraine’s Georgiy Chygaev in a flyweight contest. After little more than a round of action, Warren built up a twenty-point lead, thereby earning a stoppage victory. Meanwhile, the American representative at welterweight, Colorado’s Boyd Melson won his second-round bout against Jean Jovette Nicole Jude. With his father in attendance, Melson outclassed his foe by twenty points, although it took him until the third round to build up the necessary lead to end the bout early. Middleweight Edwin Rodriguez of Worcester, Massachusetts continued the United States winning streak by defeating Emil Dankov Krastev of Bulgaria by 25-16 decision.
