The  news broke last week that WBA lightweight champion Juan
"Baby Bull" Diaz's proposed mandatory defense against former champion Lakva Sim would have to be put off yet again. At the time the rumored replacement was Almazbek Raiymkulov aka Kid Diamond, but the respective promoters apparently could not work things out. Now, according to the website philboxing, Randy Suico will step in as the latest replacement. Suico is 24-2 with 21 KOs, and one of his losses was a disputed road loss to Mzonke Fana in Fana's native South Africa. The bout is scheduled for Las Vegas on July 15, 2006. -Scott Shaffer
