Possible Fight against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

After both side verbally trashed the other over the past few months and Dana White even claiming he smacked Couture’s agent, UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture and UFC President Dana White could be setting aside their differences.  When the universally recognized #1 MMA heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko opted not to sign with the UFC, Randy Couture subsequently announced his retirement and publicly spoke out against the UFC, specifically how they pay their fighters.  Dana White, upset from losing out on Fedor and the retirement of Couture, lashed out at the heavyweight champion.  Even though the purses for UFC are continually questioned, it must be said that UFC and Dana White held a press conference and made all of the purses for their fighter’s public.  White and Couture will meet Tuesday to discuss a possible bout with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira that could take place in February.  Nogueira has a professional record of 30-4-1 with 23 stoppages and holds wins over Werdum and Herring but lost twice to Fedor.  If Couture opts not to Nogueira, he will be stripped and Tim Sylvia would face Nogueira for the vacant heavyweight championship.  Source: Fox Sports
