World heavyweight champion Hasim 'The Rock' Rahman is training in Las Vegas while #1 rated mandatory challenger Oleg Maskaev is in the Poconos. Rahman trains each day at the Top Rank gym which is located on Business Lane.  Chief trainer Thell Torrance is with 'The Rock,' directing the workouts. "The Rock is in his toning-up phase of training," said manager Steve Nelson.  Maskaev is running 6 miles a day on mountain trails, then spars 6 to 10 rounds daily at a training facility in Fernwood, Pa. which is located in the Poconos. "We plan to stay at the Poconos through mid-July, then we will make a move West," said Fred Kesch, manager of Maskaev. "We are considering three Western locations including Big Bear in California, Colorado Springs and Las Vegas."

Rahman vs. Maskaev 'America's Last of Defense' for the World Heavyweight Championship is promoted by Top Rank and Dennis Rappaport Productions in association with Caesars Palace, Wynn Las Vegas and will at the Thomas and Mack Center, Las Vegas, on August 12.

FIGHT NOTEBOOK --- World champion Miguel Cotto has returned home to Caguas, Puerto Rico....Cotto said the bruising title fight went 12 hard rounds on Saturday night "because we were both physically prepared to go the distance." Cotto said challenger Paulie Malignaggi was "very brave."....Malignaggi, just after the fight, went over to Cotto and said 'no hard feelings.'  The two tapped gloves and Cotto said "don't worry about it..."........

On the undercard Bobby Pacquiao -- trained by Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, Calif. -- was told by Roach to launch an early-round body attack vs. Kevin Kelley which resulted in a fourth round KO....

Cotto returns to Madison Square Garden on June 9, 2007 -- the eve of the Puerto Rican Day parade.

World champion Michael 'Little Hands of Stone' Carbajal of Phoenix was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame during a ceremony Sunday in Canastota, N.Y.  Bob Arum and Carbajal embraced after the world champion received his HOF ring....Carbajal, while at the podium, thanked Arum and the TR team. Carbajal added "if you are a young fighter, go with Top Rank - they will treat you great......"

Erik 'El Terrible' Morales was a VIP guest at the Hall of Fame ceremony....
