On Monday, undefeated, four-division champion Shakur Stevenson, who recently signed with Zuffa Boxing, answered random questions from fans on Twitter. Here is what Shakur had to say:
Q: I have a question Shakur. You’re right handed, but box out of a southpaw stance. What made you decide to do that? Or was that a coaching decision? I never knew the story behind that.
A: Nah it was just my grandfather allowing me to be free.. But I do wonder what it would be like being orthodox lol
Q: Who was a tougher opponent, Edwin De La Santos or William Zepeda?
A: Zepeda. I feel like DLS was only harder for me because of circumstances I was under.
Q: Could you theoretically win a boxing match fighting orthodox the whole fight? I’m wondering if you guys drill both stances in training camp.
A: Yeah I think I can do it depending on the caliber of fighter I’m facing
Q: How you see the fight going between Keyshawn Davis and Devin Haney? Who do you have winning and how?
A: I think it’s a tremendous fight. I think Key is more skilled and talented, Dev got more experience but I don’t think he can deal with the boxing brain Key has.. Keyshawn by decision. LOL.
Q: Is October your set fight date?
A: Yeah, I think so, I think that’s when I’m back!
Q: What’s your dream fight you would’ve wanted to see in person?
A: Floyd Mayweather vs. Arturo Gatti (in 2005). [Floyd’s] speed and combinations looked crazy on video.
Q: Will you become a coach after you retire?
A: I got so much game in my arsenal, With all due respect, I would be a blessing to any young fighter pursuing this dream but I don’t know yet. There’s a lot of money to be made inside my sport.
We will see in the future
Q: How do you see Rolly Romero vs Teofimo Lopez going?
A: I talk sh*t bout Teo but he for sure should win although I did pick Ryan Garcia to beat Rolly [and I was wrong]. But I got more faith in Teo to be honest.
