The WBO has issued a purse bid order for a middleweight mandatory defense. Champion Zhanibek Alimkhanuly (pictured) must defend against British challenger Hamzah Sheeraz. On Monday, November 4th, representatives from both teams filed via email a joint petitioned requesting an extension of the negotiation period to reach an agreement. The WBO granted the request, but the parties were still unable to reach an agreement. The WBO intends to conduct a purse bid on Monday, November 18th. The minimum acceptable bid will be $200,0000. Alimkhanuly also holds the IBF title, so he has some leverage to avoid this fight if he wishes to do so.
