Purlette's trainer responds to Cunningham!

Andre Purlette's trainer James Ali Bashir contacted Boxingtalk to respond to our recent interview with cruiserweight contender Steve Cunningham. "First of all they didn't spar for four days, they sparred for two days. The first day I thought Andre got the better of it and the second day it was closer. The only reason I was bigging him up is because he had enough coverage to box with us in the first place. Jean Marc Mormeck was in the camp and he didn't want to spar with us twice. Guillermo Jones was in camp with us and he never got in the ring with Andre Purletter. Same thing with Imamu Mayfield. They all wanted to get paid for it. I gave Steve credit for even getting in there with him. It was competitive sparring, I don't think Andre has to try and make a name off Steve though because if you think about it Steve doesn't even have a name. That's why Showtime just dropped him. You could be a good dancer but you need someone to dance with. They didn't want the Guillermo Jones fight and we're ready to fight him whenever he finds the courage. He didn't have his way with Andre, he was running for his life. After he tasted some power he was running for his life. He boxed and caught Andre with a few shots but once Andre hit him it was clear to see what Steve Cunningham is made of. The bottom line is this, Andre is ready to fight any cruiserweight in the world tomorrow. All they have to do is call his name and they got a fight!"
