Prospect watch: Fernando Guerrero is now 5-0

Fernando Guerrero TKO4 Valentino Jalomo... Twenty-one year old middleweight Fernando Guerrero (5-0, 5 KO’s) stopped Valentino Jalomo (2-3-1) on the undercard of Whitfield-Vargas in Augusta, Georgia yesterday.  Guerrero kept his knockout streal alive with left jabs and right hooks that landed solidly.  Taking virtually every round with scores of 10-8 on the judges’ scorecards, Guerrero did enough to convince the referee to stop the fight at 1:18 of the fourth round.  "I felt great, and I am very happy with my performance,” said Guerrero. “I have a huge amount of respect for Jalomo.  He took a lot of punishment, but I knew I had to end it. I have never fought this many rounds before so I am glad I got to showcase my talent to the fans.  I can't wait to do this again. I want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way. This is just the beginning of the journey I was born to take.”  Guerrero’s manager, Hal Chernoff added, “Tonight was the first stepping stone on the road to Fernando becoming a world champion.  This was a coming out party for him. He put his talent on display for the world to see, and he came out and gave it his all.  Jalomo was the most durable fighter I have seen in a long time.  I can not believe he withstood the amount of punishment Fernando unleashed on him.  I take my hat off to him." source: Prize Fight press release
