Promoter Frank Warren (pictured) wrote: I, my family and everyone at Queensberry Prommotions wishes our dear friend Francisco 'Paco' Valcárcel a happy retirement as he steps down as the president of the WBO. Paco Valcarcel is a man who I and everyone in boxing have the utmost respect for.  Under his guidance and leadership for the last 28 years, the WBO has become the great and respected organization it is today. Paco is a man of wisdom who is so knowledgeable about our sport, he has been a dear friend to my family and me  and been a great supporter of British boxing.  It has been a privilege to see so many of our champions wear the WBO belt. 

 

I am happy to see the baton being passed to the new president, Gustavo Olivieri. He is a good boxing man, the WBO is in safe hands with him at the helm, we will continue to work together with the WBO to grow our much loved sport. From everyone in our sport of boxing, thank you Paco, enjoy your retirement, family and of course… your golf my dear friend.
