Promoter: Couser fighting in Mississippi!

Press Release: According to Tony Dane, promoter of the World Wide Boxing show on Friday, April 7, 2006 at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, "Cliff Couser will fight in the main event in Biloxi on April 7.  Mr. Couser will not be boxing March 31 in Salt Lake City as has been suggested in some media outlets." [Editor's note: Boxingtalk didn't "suggest" it, Lion Heart Productions has issued multiple press releases stating Couser would fight on its show]. Dane continued, "Mr. Couser is well aware that his presence in the main event on a card which will benefit the Gulf Coast victims of Hurricane Katrina is far too important to allow him to take a bout just seven days prior.

"Mr. Couser and World Wide Boxing had agreed that Mr. Couser would fight on a card in Salt Lake City during February of this year.  But when the date of that proposed bout was switched to March 31 and the opponent changed, both Mr. Couser and I decided it was not feasible and so notified the promoter in Salt Lake City of that.  As a result of those changes neither Mr. Couser nor I, as his promoter, signed any document committing him to fight on that new date or against a new opponent.

"The reason for that is simple; it's too close to the benefit card April 7 in Biloxi.  That being said, Mr. Couser and World Wide Boxing have no problem with Mr. Couser fighting Chauncey Welliver, the proposed opponent for the March 31 bout, but at a future date. I hope this puts to rest any confusion or conjecture about  Mr. Couser?s next bout--it will be April 7 in Biloxi against Troy Beets."
