Pro-Am show coming to Rhode Island

Press Release: The first Pro-Am boxing show in Rhode Island history will take place Thursday night, May 18, 2006 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in downtown Providence. The headliner is IWBF lightweight champion Jaime "The Hurricane" Clampitt (16-3-1, 7 KOs) defending her belt against intrastate rival Missy "The Fury" Fiorentino (13-1, 6 KOs), the reigning IWBF featherweight title-holder. Newly crowned National Golden Gloves 152-pound champion Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade boxes before his hometown fans against two-time Irish champion James Wasson, a Belfast native now living in South Boston. Andrade, also a two-time U.S. Championships winner, and Wasson are both 2008 Olympic hopefuls. In another outstanding amateur match, Mark DeLuca faces rival Nathan Busa at 165 pounds. "We're grateful to USA Boxing, USA Boxing/New England and matchmaker Jose Santos for making it possible to showcase some of the best amateur boxers in country," CES president Jimmy Burchfield said. "We have one Olympian on the show in Jason Estrada (he faces Stacy "Bigfoot" Frazier in the co-feature of the pro card) and a few potential Olympians in the amateur part of the show." The event will air tape delayed on May 20 at 7:00 PM/ET on CES/CN8.
