Post-Fight Interview: Hannah Rankin

Greg Leon: Congrats on getting back into the win column with your third round stoppage over Eva Bajic (14-18). Can you givs us some thoughts on your performance?  Hannah Rankin: "I’m very happy with my performance last night. Since Malta and losing my world title, I’ve changed a few things in camp. We’ve worked on my focus and my punching power. My team devised a game plan which they believed would end in a stoppage. I executed the game plan and the results were there for all to see. First left book to the body that I hit her with put her down so I’m very happy."

GL: Is there any early indication when you're next fight might take place?

HR: " I normally leave these things to my team both here in the UK and in America but I would love to be out as soon as possible. I have no injuries from my fight and I will be back in the gym this week."

GL: What are your goals for 2020?

HR: "My goals for 2020 are to regain my world title and continue to improve my performance with each fight. And I would love to box in either Madison Square Garden in NYC or Las Vegas."

GL: How many times do you see yourself fighting this year?

HR: "I like to stay active as a fighter and I would like to have 3 more fights this year."

GL: Are you hoping to land a rematch with Patricia Berghult?

HR: "Absolutely. I lost that fight because of a mistake I made in round one and I’ve corrected that in training. I want my world title back and I believe her fellow countryman and my promotional stablemate Otto Wallin is fighting at the end of March in Las Vegas. Swedish TV will be there so my message to her is let’s run it back."

GL: What did you think about the Shields-Habazin fight?

HR: "I thought that Claressa outclassed Ivana in their fight and showed the improvements with the body work that she’s also been working on. But I give credit to Ivana and her heart because she got up and toughed it out until the final bell."

GL: Closing thoughts for the fans.

HR: "To all my supporters both here in Scotland who came out last night to see me fight and my fans in the US that have been messaging me today and come out to support me in the US a massive thank you. My improvements are coming. I look forward to whoever I fight next, hopefully it’s Patricia, but as everybody knows I’ll fight anybody, anywhere, anytime and keep following me on this journey."
