Post-Fight Interview Adam Kownacki

Says Arreola was toughest fight, but he proved himself to be the real deal

Greg Leon: Congrats on your victory over Chris Arreola in a highly entertaining fight. Can you give us some thoughts on your performance? Adam Kownacki: "Thank you, I think it was entertaining, me and Arreola both came to fight, we had a lot to lose, a lot to gain and we fought like that. We left it all on the line that line. I was surprised this went the distance, but he was very game. He was taking a lot of good punches and he proved to me that all dogs have their day."

GL: Arreola made it clear that if he didn't win this was going to be it for him. He was putting his career on the line. Do you feel that you fought a super motivated version of Arreola? Do you think this was a better version than the one that Deontay Wilder saw?

AK: "I think so. Even during the post fight interview he said I don't think I could put my body through this again and what he meant was the training camp. I think he dedicated himself for the full twelve weeks to get in the best shape possible to give it his all. I proved that it wasn't enough. I think I edged him a little bit in almost every round."

GL: Are you disappointed that you didn't get him out of there?

Adam Kownacki: "Of course, I wanted to give a really good showing with all of my fans over there, but he's tough and he's a good fighter. He proved

GL: Following this fight, do you feel like you need to main event every time you fight at the Barclay's Center?

AK: " I think so, the amount of people that showed up to cheer me on was amazing. The atmosphere was great, all the red shirts in the crowd, it was awesome and I really enjoyed it. It was a different experience for me fighting in the main event and I something I feel like I deserve moving forward. Almost everybody was there for me and Arreola and it was a great experience, a great learning experience. I did the best I could and I will be better moving forward."

GL: Would you say this was the toughest fight of your career?

AK: "Definitely. From numbers thrown the him being so game, I think so."

GL: What can you do to make yourself less hittable when you get into a fight like this?

AK: "I can definitely box more (laughs), there was a couple of rounds where I feel like I was able to do a good job boxing, but like I said it was a learning experience. When I used the jab and kept my distance the fight was much easier and I took less punishment, but I like to fight and I like to make sure I'm giving the fans their monies worth. I think everybody enjoyed it.

GL: Any early indication when the next one might be?

AK: "Right now I'm just enjoying this victory, but hopefully sometime early next year."

GL: CLosing thoughts for the fans.

AK: "Keep following me man, I feel like I made a good statement on Saturday. I proved that I'm the real deal."
