Ponce De Leon to get October title shot?

Likely to fight for title vacated by Guzman

According to Mexican news agency Notimex, former Olympian Daniel Ponce de Leon will face the Thailander Sod Looknongyangtoy by the vacant WBO 122-pound title, which was given up by Joan Guzman. The bout is tentatively scheduled for October 27, 2005, in an undetermined city in the United States.  After boxing in the 2000 Olympics, Ponce De Leon has complied a record of 26-1 with 25 KO. His only loss came against Celestino Caballero, who still hasn't received a title shot of his own. A murderous puncher, Ponce De Leon is rated #17 in the Boxingtalk junior featherweight ratings. Looknongyangtoy has never fought outside of Thailand, but he is 25-0 with 10 Kos and rated #13 by Boxingtalk.
