Phoonsawat scores big KO in Thailand

Phoonsawat Krathingdaeng Gym aka Phoonsawat Vorsinghsanei stepped up with an impressive third-round knock out over the capable Jake Verano on January 3, 2005 at Mahanakorn University of Technology in Bangkok. Verano tried to use his usually effective left jab to control the fight, but Phoonsawat (rated #17 by Boxingtalk) had too much power.  In round three, Verano was dropped and counted out after many combinations followed by a big left uppercut from Phoonsawat, who holds the PABA bantamweight title.  Currently rated #2 by the WBA, Phoonsawat appears to have been victimized by favoritism when he was moved down from the WBA #1 spot and stripped of his WBA Fedelatin belt for an unclear reason.  After dropping Phoonsawat from #1, the WBA then ordered a title eliminator bout between Wladimir Sidorenko and the WBA's longtime favorite, Leo Gamez, the four-time WBA titlist who is way past his prime(Sidorenko defeated the aged Gamez). On the same card, Saohin SabuYoko aka Saohin Sri Thai Condo, a former WBA title challenger at 118, retained his PABA featherweight belt by eleventh round stoppage over Alfren Bulala, who like Verano, is from the Philippines. In round three, Bulala was cut by an accidental head clash. Saohin dropped Bulala in round four with a big left hook to the body. Bulala suffered from a left leg cramp and took a knee in round eight. Saohin sent his foe down again in round eleven with a right hook to Bulala's stomach. These matches were promoted by Galaxy Boxing Promotion.
