Claims Candelo owes him money
Verno Phillips W10 J.C. Candelo...  Verno Phillips and J.C. Candelo took a very personal dispute into a New Orleans boxing ring on Wednesday and Phillips came out the winner via unanimous decision. After ten rounds, the official scores were 98-91, 97-92 and 100-89. It was a competitive fight, more than the scores indicated, until Phillips used an overhand right to drop Candelo with thirty seconds remaining in the final round. Just two and a half minutes earlier, Phillips made an obscene gesture towards Candelo rather than touch gloves. The bitter feelings dated back to when Phillips and Candelo trained in the same gym a few years ago, when Phillips claims Candelo stiffed him on a loan while Candelo alleges Phillips made a pass at his wife. source: ESPN2 Wednesday Night Fights
