The man that will facing him on the other end of the ring former IBF Light Middleweight champion Verno Phillips contacted Boxingtalk to comment on the former Welterweight champ from Accra, Ghana remarks. "He must be mistaken if he thinks he is going to knock me out. One of his translators needs to tell him that he is fighting Verno Phillips not Vince Phillips." stated Phillips. RC: Verno, give us your thoughts on Ike "Bazooka" Quartey prediction that this fight won’t be going the distance?

VP: It’s on! They call him the Bazooka, and he is going to be walking right into my heat sinkers.

RC: Many look at you as the underdog going into this fight. What do you have to say to those out there that are just looking at you going into this match on June 18th as a step up opponent for Ike Quartey before he moves onto bigger and better things?

VP: I don’t know what they are expecting but they must not have been looking at my last few fights. Quartey is sort of like Ouma, but this fight isn’t going to be like the Ouma fight. I am more dedicated now than ever, this is a big opportunity for me fighting on HBO and I plan on taking full advantage. So on June 18th things will definitely be different. I don’t know why Quartey chose me for his first comeback fight, but it’s his lose because I am just going to send him back into retirement. He is going to wish he never came out of retirement.

RC: Have you been working on anything in particular or anything different in this a very crucial bout that can reignite your career providing you are successful?
