Peter Manfredo Jr's December return a prelim to Lacy fight?

GL: It's been a little while since we've had you on Boxingtalk. There's been rumors that you could be fighting Jeff Lacy next. The last time we spoke you were talking about taking a tune-up and then doing something big early next year. What's the deal? "We're just looking to get something in the first week of December with a tune-up to see how the elbow holds up. It should be fine, it feels great. I'll be in the gym the whole week and hopefully the fight with Lacy can happen. It would be an honor to fight somebody like him. He's a former world champion, he's one of the best out there, he's only got one loss. I just want to get my name up there with those guys because I feel where it belongs."

GL: You said the elbow should be fine, but to what extreme have you pushed it. Have you sparred yet?

Peter Manfredo Jr: "I haven't sparred yet. I'm going to spar one time this week. In hitting the bags and things like that, it feels like nothing was ever wrong with it in the first place. I haven't felt like this in over a year and it's feeling great. Obviously I'm not going to be able to know for sure what's going to happen until I get hit on it and hit somebody with it. I don't think it's going to be a problem though."

GL: Is the Lacy fight something that is already being worked on?

PMJ: "I don't know to be honest with you. My father is my manager and negotiates the deals and he goes through Jeff Wald and the Contender, my promoter. As far as I know I'm just happy to be back and I want to get back in there to fight and make money."

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

PMJ:" To all the kids out there, never give up on your dreams. Go after everything at full speed and give it 110% and you'll acheive success."
