Pemberton to go where grass is Greener

Press release: In late October, WBC #1 rated super middleweight Scott "The Sandman" Pemberton (29-3-1, 24 KOs) will fight WBC #3 Danny "Green Machine" Green (20-2, 19 KOs) in Perth, Australia, Pemberton's promoter Jimmy Burchfield  announced today. "We're going to Australia in October," Burchfield said. "Yes, we're doing it in [Green's] backyard. The last title fight [Markus Beyer won a decision from Green] was a mandatory and the next mandatory is March 2006. This is a big, big fight. We're talking about bringing a couple of other American fighters with us to Australia and getting it on pay-per-view so American people can see the fight. We may do a small show in New England and show Pemberton-Green on PPV." Christian Sanavia, rated #2 by the WBC lost last weekend to Danilo Haussler so Green is expected to be ranked #2 by the WBC. Pemberton was the winner in back-to-back ESPN2 Fights of the Year (2004 & 2003) against Omar Sheika, who will get his fourth world title shot September 3 against WBC title-holder Markus Beyer. "I'm not really looking forward to the long ride," Pemberton added, "but I going there to do what I have to do." Green's only two career losses as a pro have been against Beyer. His most significant victory was a sixth-round TKO of former WBC champion Eric Lucas in 2003.
