Pemberton speaks on Green fight!

By James Alden

BT: You will be fighting Danny Green over In Australia (his hometown). Do you have any nerves of going over there and fighting him in his backyard?

SP: I have no problem going over there to his backyard. The only thing that really is bothering me is the flight over there. I really don't care for flying to much. I wll be taking my family over there with. It's a great opportunity for me and my family to go to Australia.

BT: When will you begin training for this fight?
SP: Well I've already been in training for a while now.

BT: Do you know anything about Danny Green?
SP: I know nothing about Danny Green other than he's a big time puncher. Who's got a big right hand. I'm not sure what his record is right now, I think he 19-2 or 20-2  with 18 or 19 KOs.

BT: This must be a big relief for you. The last couple of times that I talked with you, you were frustrated about not getting any fights. How much of a relief is it for you to get this big opportunity?
SP: Well It's a very big relief. I'm getting a halfway decent payday, nothing that I would like to be getting but it's a halfway decent payday. This gets me one step closer to getting a title shot.

BT:  Do you consider this your career defining fight?
SP: I guess so because Danny Green is one of the best fighters in the world and one of the best fighters in the super middleweight division.

BT: You are 38 years old now. You haven't fought in over a year. Do you think the ring rust will show in the fight?
SP: Well maybe. But as long as I stay in the gym and get good sparring, ring rust won't be a problem for me.

BT: Is this the biggest payday of your career?
SP: Yes.

BT: Is this fight going to be televised in the United States?
SP: From what I understand Jimmy Burchfield is going to try to do something with PPV over here.

BT: If you get by Danny Green, are you looking forward to taking on the winner of the Omar Sheika-Marcus Beyer fight?
SP: Yes, Most definetly.

BT: Is there anything that you would like to say to the Sandman fans around the World?
SP: I would just like to say to all the Sandman fans, thanks for supporting me.
