Pemberton-Green in Australia!

PRESS RELEASE: In late October WBC #1 rated super middleweight Scott "The Sandman" Pemberton (29-3-1, 24 KOs) will fight #3 ranked challenger Danny "Green Machine" Green (20-2, 19 KOs) in Perth, Australia, Pemberton's promoter Jimmy Burchfield (CES) announced today.   "We're going to Australia in October," Jimmy said. "The No. 1 rated (WBC) super middleweight in the world, Scott Pemberton, is going to fight the No. 2 fighter. Yes, we're doing it in his backyard. Scott's been the No. 1 contender decided that the last title fight (Markus Beyer won a decision from Green) was a mandatory and the next mandatory is March 2006. This is a big, big fight. We're talking about brining a couple of other American fighters with us to Australia and getting it on pay-per-view so American people can see the fight. We may do a small show in New England and show Pemberton-Green on PPV."   Pemberton, also rated No. 7 by the IBF and No. 8 by the WBO, will travel to Green's birthplace for a likely WBC title eliminator. No. 2 rated Christian Sanavia lost last weekend and Green is expected to be ranked No. 2.   Pemberton was the winner in back-to-back ESPN2 Fights of the Year (2004 & 2003) against Omar Sheika, who, ironically, gets his fourth world title shot September 3 against WBC title-holder Markus Beyer. Scott is the reigning NABC, IBU and NABF super middleweight champion. "I'm not really looking forward to the long ride," Pemberton added, "but I going there to do what I have to do."   Green's only two career losses as a pro have been in WBC title fights against Beyer. His most significant victory was a sixth-round TKO of former WBC champion Eric Lucas in their 2003 WBC Interim Title fight.
