THREE World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International championships along with non-title bouts of world-class fighters Juanito Rubillar and Rexon Flores are slated in the same card on November 20 in Paranaque City, Philippines where Gerry PeƱalosa aims to win another world title.
Welterweight Rey Pelonia and flyweight Sukarno Banjao will put their respective WBF International titles on the line against Thai opponents while Kid Orais and Elderd Romero will duke in an all-Filipino affair for the vacant WBF International bantamweight belt.
The 32-year old Pelonia will risks his crown against Jakrit Suwanalert, current No. 3 contender in Thailand, while Banjao, nicknamed āMaster Showmanā, faces former Thailand flyweight champion Wisanu Pornobnom.
Rubillar, a former two-time WBC light-flyweight title challenger, will risks his WBC No. 3 ranking and the future possibility of another crack for the title early next year. He will face Samransak Singmanassak.
Singmanassak lost twice in as many fights in the country. Veteran Noel TuƱacao dominated him over 10 rounds in Cebu City before ex-world champ Joma Gamboa clobbered him in four rounds in Antipolo City both in 2001.
On the other hand, the WBO No. 10 ranked Flores will also see action in a non-title tiff after taking his first championship, the WBO Asia-Pacific flyweight belt last July 21 also against Thai, Aree Phosuwangym. He will meet Klongchai Sor Visetkit, a unanimous decision loser to Phosuwangym in Nov. 2003.
Making his second fight this year after he announced his retirement in January 2003 following a third failed attempt to regain the WBC super-flyweight crown in Dec. 2002, PeƱalosa, 32, takes on unbeaten Bangsaen Sithproprom for the vacant WBF super-flyweight crown.
Promoter Gabriel āBebotā Elorde is eyeing either the Elorde Sports Center or the Casino Filipino-Amphithear as venue.
