Pantera Miranda: Abraham is scared of my power!

Edited Press Release: The final details are almost complete for Edison "Pantera" Miranda's challenge of Arthur Abraham for IBF middleweight belt on August 26, 2006 in Oldenburg, Germany.  However, there is a bit of controversy over which gloves will be used.  According to a source close with the Miranda camp, Abraham is refusing to use Reyes gloves for their scheduled showdown.  Instead, Abraham is demanding that both fighters use Everlast gloves because he knows Reyes are puncher’s gloves and is afraid of Miranda’s power.  Miranda claims to be shocked that Abraham is afraid to use the Reyes gloves for their encounter, although the choice of gloves generally is reserved for the champion if the local commission does not allow boxers to wear different brands of gloves.  Miranda stated, "if he thinks he can beat me and knock me out, then we both should be allowed to wear any gloves we want that are legal and approved.  Obviously, he knows who the stronger man is, and is afraid of getting hit by my power."  In his last fight, Pantera knocked out Howard Eastman, something Abraham could not accomplish.  Abraham went the distance with Eastman to win by decision.  Miranda said, "now that he has seen my power, he is scared.  He is supposedly this hard punching guy himself.  If this is true, than I say shut up and put the Reyes gloves on or any other approved gloves and let me wear the gloves I choose."  Pantera currently is a full time resident of San Juan, Puerto Rico and has established a training camp there as well.  For more information on Miranda and the fight, visit www.panteraboxing.com.
