Paez Jr continues to impress!

Undefeated boxing prospect Jorge Paez Jr. ran his professional undefeated streak to 7-0 (all by knockout) Saturday night at the Apache Gold Resort and Casino. The 18-year-old Paez, who is promoted exclusively by Sycuan Ringside Promotions, decked Ricky Alexander twice before the referee stopped the scheduled four-round bout at 2:28 of the opening round. "Jorge looked very sharp tonight," Sycuan matchmaker Sean Gibbons said. "His punches were very powerful, very compact and he hurt Alexander with each one. He floored Alexander with a wicked body shot and then with left hook the second time." Gibbons said the son of former world champ Jorge "Maromero" Paez would probably fight again in May and continue to fight about once a month through 2006. It was young Paez's first fight since he scored a KO at Sycuan on December 23. "The key is to keep Jorge active," co-manager Andy Ruiz said. "We want him to learn his trade so he can become a real solid world champ like his father was." The 23-year-old Alexander, who is from Stillwater, OK, now has a pro record of 5-4. In his last bout on March 24 in Oklahoma City, Alexander scored a one-round stoppage over Orville Hodge.
