Pacquiao-Marquez Negotiations Ongoing

According to Golden Boy Promotions Vice President Eric Gomez, negotiations for the highly anticipated rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez are ongoing.  "It’s in the works.  Bob Arum and Richard Schaefer sat over the weekend in New York and went through the details," Gomez stated.  With many different rumors flying around about who Manny Pacquiao is going to fight, one thing is for certain, Pacquiao is looking for the fight that makes the most sense economically.  Gomez continued, "There’s a very good chance.  They’re talking right now, looking at details, they are negotiating and I am sure the two of them can reach an agreement."  A prior agreement states that Pacquiao would receive only 57% of the purse if he were to fight a GBP fighter.  This agreement was made when the original dispute regarding Pacquiao’s promotional rights were settled by Top Rank and GBP.  In order for the rematch to happen, Top Rank might have to push for a few more points in favor of Pacquiao to get the approval of Freddie Roach and Manny.  Source: Manila Bulletin            Â
