PACQUIAO TKOs MORALES IN TENTH

Maybe it really was the gloves. Manny Pacquiao, wearing the gloves of his choice this time, reversed his 2005 decision loss to Erik Morales by stopping the Mexican legend in the tenth round of a junior lightweight bout in Las Vegas on Saturday. The fight picked up right where the first bout left off as both landed big shots throughout the first five rounds but Morales clearly getting the edge on Pacquiao.  In round six, though, Pacquiao had his best round of the fight, hurting Morales with furious combinations of punches.  After round six, Morales looked completely worn out, as his corner massaged his legs to get some circulation back in
them.  Pacquiao continued to dominate the fight through round ten when he put Morales down with a perfect chopping left hand.  Pacquaio then followed up with a combination putting Morales down again, forcing referee Kenny Bayless to stop the fight at 2:33 of the tenth round.  Pacquiao threw some very good body shots in the fight which seemed to paralyze Morales from round seven on, and Morales did very little after that point.  With the win Pacquiao improves to 41-3-2 with 33 KOs while Morales is knocked out for the first time in his career and falls to 48-4 with 34 KOs.  Morales after the fight, said he will take some time off from boxing, and all the wars he has been in seem to be taking their toll on him.  It is still in question whether or not Morales will exercise his contractual right to a third fight. In the last bout, Pacquiao blamed his ex-promoter Murad Muhammad for selling him out when it came to choosing gloves. Pacquiao claimed the gloves prevented a knockout in the first match, and tonigh, he made that claim look good. Morales has now lost two in a row and three of his last four, as his win over Pacquiao was sandwiched between losses to Zahir Raheem and Marco Antonio Barrera. source: PPV broadcast
