GL: What's good Kassim?
"What's good is that I'm going to be defending my IBF tilte against Roman Karmazin on HBO Latino July 15. I'm coming to Latino. Hola? Como estas? I'm from Uganda and I'm the campeon del mundo. I'm on my weight already, I'm training hard in the gym and watch what happens in this next fight. I can't wait to see him."
GL: So tell us what's going to happen when you see him on July 15
Kassim Ouma: "He's a challenger and I'm a champion so I'm going to go in there and do what champions do, take care of mine. The belt is mine and Karmazin will not take it away from me."
GL: Have you seen any tapes on Karmazin?
KO: "No, but I don't need to see the tapes. I need to see him in the ring and then I'll figure him out. I don't know if he's southpaw or orthodox, but I know I'm a long way from home and I'm hungry so nobody will beat me."
"I want to be in the fights the people want to see me in, but right now I'm focused on Karmazin. I know he's a tough cookie because I always fight the tough cookies that come my way."
GL: The fights that you want are against the top guys that bring big money, what do you need to do to get one of those big names in the ring?
KO: "Keep my title and keep winning. Right now they give me tests in every fight and I'm not letting nobody taking what's mine. I don't know what I have to do to get them in the ring. Hopefully the writers and the fans want the fight. Once the fans start saying they want Kassim Ouma against so and so, it'll be my time so let them know family."
GL: Obviously you're happy that you signed with Golden Boy Promotions but how do you feel about not being able to fight Oscar De La Hoya or Bernard Hopkins, you're promoters?
KO: "It don't bother me. I don't care though, I'd still fight them. They're my promoters and everything but it don't matter. If it was up to me we would fight."
