Oquendo presser in NYC Monday!

Heavyweight contender Fres Oquendo will return to the ring and make his DiBella Entertainment debut when Broadway Boxing Presented by Turning Stone Resort and Casino gets the 2006 season underway on Thursday night, February 16 at the Grand Ballroom at Manhattan Center.

A Chicago native of Puerto Rican heritage, he boasts a 24-3 career mark, including 15 victories by way of knockout. The "Big O" captured his first 22 career fights, turning back the likes of David Izon, with a third round TKO at the Javits Center which vaulted Fres to leading contender-status, as well as scores over Obed Sullivan, Maurice Harris and Cliff Etienne.

His only three career setbacks came at the hands of leading heavyweights David Tua, former World Heavyweight Champion John Ruiz and current World Heavyweight Champion Chris Byrd.  The Byrd loss was a controversial, disputed 12-round decision in an IBF World Heavyweight Championship fight on September 20, 2003.

The knockout artistry of Brownsville's Curtis "Showtime" Stevens will also be showcased in one of the co-featured attractions. It took Stevens one left hook to score a first round knockout over Kia Daniels, improving his unblemished record to 10-0, with 9 by way of knockout. Stevens looks to continue his knockout streak in the 168 pound division on February 16 in front of a hometown crowd.

Tickets are priced at $150, $100, $80, $60 and $40, and are available by calling DiBella Entertainment at 212-947-2577.  Broadway Boxing Presented by Turning Stone Resort and Casino will air on a later date on MSG Network in New York, Fox Sports Net New England, Comcast Sportsnet Chicago and in high definition on HDNet.  Along with Turning Stone Resort and Casino, the site and title sponsor, Broadway Boxing is also sponsored by HBO Sports, Locatestock.com
