One-on-One with Panchito Bojado

Bojado says he can be ready to face Forbes on October 6

GL: Can you give us some thoughts on the cancellation? "I was pretty bummed out because I was working hard to get out there and leave everything on the table. This was going to be a huge fight for my career. It was going to help me get to the next level and bigger and better opportunities. It's just an unfortunate thing that we have no control over."

GL: Golden Boy has many dates on HBO and HBO PPV. Has there been any early indication as to when you might get rescheduled for?

Panchito Bojado: "I know my team is still talking to Golden Boy and we're trying to figure out which would be the best date for Steve Forbes to dance with the devil. I'm just going to continue with my training and continue to get into better shape and go to that next level."

GL: So as far as you're concerned, you want Steve Forbes next.

PB: "He's who I have my mind set for. I don't think they're going to change the opponent and if they are I haven't had any notice of it. But I have to still do my job and my job isn't over until I step inside of the ring. I need to stay on top of my game, keep studying, keep working and mastering my craft."

GL: It's an unfortunate situation.

PB: "It really is. I was training as hard as I could, I was running all over the place I was sparring many rounds, I was even sparring middleweights. I still look at it in a positive way because I'm still keeping in shape, I'm still learning and I'm still doing my job. It's been fun and I've had some great wars in the gym, so I'm not going to complain."

GL: Are you willing to fight Forbes on October 6 if that fight can be added to the Pacquiao-Barrera event?

PB: "That would be great! I would rather be on that card than this last one. It's a much bigger event, you have Manny Pacquiao against Marco Antonio Barrera. That would be a blessing for me to get on that card against Forbes or whoever else it's going to be. I just want to keep working. When I came back on May 4, I wanted to stay busy climb the ladder and pay my dues against whoever I got to face to get me to that next level. I'm willing to fight the devil in hell so it is what it is. I'm just going to stay positive and keep on working."

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

PB: "I'm disappointed for Marquez getting the infection and pulling the whole card. I guess we're going to be lighting some fireworks in the street, because there's not going to be any fireworks in the ring on that night."
