One on One with Jorge Barrios!

WBO 130 pound champ sounds off!

PG: What have you been up to since your championship victory over Mike Anchondo? "I've been studying getting my high school degree. Also been training running during the morning and swimming in the afternoon to keep myself in good condition.".

Q: Who are you planning to fight next?

A: "I fight under Golden Boy promotions, and the rumor here is that I will be fighting a guy named Antonio Davis. I don’t really know him, but when this is a done deal I will make sure to train hard and defeat any fighter they put in front of me."

Q: Do you ever see yourself fighting against fighters like Marco Antonio Barrera,Erik Morales, or Manny Paquiao?

A: "Yes, I always want to fight the best. Right now, I don’t think I am ready, but while I keep gaining experience, I would love to fight them all. I want to show that I am the best 130 in the world and time will give me the reason."

Q: What do you think of a rematch against Freitas?

A: Oh man, I would love that one. The problem with that is that Freitas is no longer fighting in 130. I am the man right now in this division.  I am sure that in the future I would face Freitas and demonstrate that he got lucky the first time.

Q: Jose Miguel Cotto, the brother of Miguel Cotto, is ranked the #3 contender in the WBO. What do you think about fighting him?

A: "Well, I did not know that Cotto had a brother. But yes, in case they want to fight us, the only thing they need to do is to contact Golden Boy Promotions and arrange the fight.

Q: What are your predictions on the Marquez-Polo, Castillo-Corrales, and Winky-Tito?

A: "Well, I think that Marquez going to win an easy decision. On the other hand in the Castillo-Corrales fight, it will depend on who have more durability. The toughest guy will win and I am giving the edge to Castillo to pull this one by decision also. Tito- Winky will be a close one; I think Tito will win a close decision also in a classic boxer-puncher match up. I may be wrong in the Castillo-Corrales; I remember I picked Freitas to beat Corrales also. (laughs)

Q: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?
A: Yes I would like to thanks Boxingtalk for the interview, and also be sure to keep in tune, because I will show that I’m the best Super Featherweight in the world.
