One on One: Dmitriy Salita

GL: What can you tell about your upcoming September 20 fight with Francisco Campos? "I know that he's a tough durable guy and he's been in there with world champions. I just hope to put on a great performance and I want to be part of the list of world champions who beat him."

GL: In your last fight Shad Howard was brought literally brought in at the last minute, do you believe that had a negative impact on your performance?

Dmitriy Salita: "I didn't know what he looked like until I walked into the ring. I just had to use the experience that I gained as an amateur for a good amount of time. I'm happy that fight turned out the way it did and I'm looking foward to putting on another great performance on September 20."

GL: What can we expect to see from you on September 20 that we didn't see in the Shad Howard fight?

DS: "I will be more aggressive, more explosive and it's going to be a dominating performance."

GL: Where you do you see yourself in a year from now and are you hoping you take your career to the championship level by then?

DS: "After September 20 I plan on fighting one more time this year. I'm not even looking at it as something far off. I'm looking at fighting the winner of the Souleymane M'Baye-Raul Balbi fight for the vacant WBA title. I want to challenge the winner of that fight early next year."

GL: Who do you like in that fight?

DS: "I've seen M'Baye fight and I remember Balbi as an aggressive guy from when I saw him on HBO a few years ago. But the way I've been training and the way I've been progressing I don't think either guy would be a problem for me."

GL: Is this fight with Campos going the distance?

DS: "I"m coming to win, but I'll be honest with you I don't think it's going to go the distance."

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

DS: "I plan on putting on another great performance and I want to thank Boxingtalk.com for all of their support throughout the years, pretty much for my entire professional career. I am a product of New York City Boxing. I learned how to box in New York City boxing clubs and I believe that it's one of the best boxing schools in the world and I plan on proving that when I make the most of my opportunity at a title."
